As you can see, we have added insulation and installed the raised boarding to protect it.
This is roughly 7sqm.
This is a garage loft. We can board these by using a timber support layout running perpendicular to the ceiling joists to create strength for the storage floor and ceiling.
The area you can see if this photo is roughly 12 sqm.
We use 18mm chipboard loft flooring panels.
These are 1.22m x 0.34m each panel. They are connected using a tongue and groove join along the 1.22m length only.
We install these in rows to allow for access to services below.
We use a raised system that comes in two heights for different levels of insulation or obstructions.

We have knowledge and expertise to upgrade your homes energy efficiency with a number of solutions.
From loft insulation to ventilation we can increase EPC ratings and reduce your energy bills in as little as a day.
This photo shows a loft with only a 100mm depth of loft insulation.
While this was deemed sufficient a number of years ago, it does not meet current guidelines on how to keep your home as warm as possible.
This photo shows an upgrade we carried out to increase the total depth of loft insulation to 270mm.
Since 2003, current building regulations recommend a depth of at least 270mm.
Loft insulation can help you save hundreds of pounds each year. This directly applies to your energy bills. And with loft insulation having a long life span it will pay for itself many times over. By preventing heat loss loft insulation contributes to lower energy consumption. As a result, homeowners often experience significant cost savings on their energy bills.
It is estimated that around a quarter of a home’s heat is lost through its roof if there is no loft insulation in place. By insulating your loft you minimise this heat loss by creating a thermal barrier, preventing heat from rising and disappearing through your roof.
Adequate loft insulation helps maintain a more consistent and comfortable indoor temperature throughout the year.
Insulation prevents heat escaping from living spaces, so it will make your loft space cooler, which could introduce or worsen existing damp or condensation problems. With this in mind, we will assess the ventilation in your loft space and can recommend products or steps to ensure there is adequate ventilation. These include -
If you currently have belongings in your loft that you want to keep safe and out of the way, these MUST be kept above the insulation. This is not only to protect your items becoming dusty or worse damp (see above to avoid this!) but is mainly to protect the insulation.
By squashing the insulation with belongings or loose boards for them to sit on, you are increasing the risk of condensation and reducing the performance of the insulation material.
To avoid this, we offer a raised loft boarding system. This is a system that is designed to be strong and allows for access underneath if needed. We use a BBA approved product.
Something that tends to get forgotten is the loft hatch itself. This is permanent opening in your ceiling so has more potential to allow heat to escape the house.
We will always ensure the hatch is sufficiently insulated and importantly sealed to prevent a draft.
We offer options to upgrade your loft hatch and even loft ladders if you feel access is needed or not safe enough.
